ISOTECH Ltd was a partner in the ActionMed project. Michael I. Loizides was part of the core group of people that developed and implemented the DeCyDe-4 decision-support method and toolbox, which was used for the identification, evaluation and selection of measures for the MSFD’s Programmes of Measures. Specifically, ISOTECH organized and led three participatory decision-support workshops: (i) one in Greece involving Greek experts and decision-makers in the identification and selection of measures for inclusion in the Greek national PoM for descriptors 5, 8, 9 and 10, (ii) one in the Adriatic that brought together stakeholders/decision-makers from Italy, Croatia and Slovenia to identify possible common measures for descriptors 5, 8, 9 and 10 for implementation in the Adriatic sub-region, and (iii) one in the Mediterranean that brought together stakeholders/decision-makers from Cyprus, Greece and Malta to identify possible common measures for descriptors 5, 8, 9 and 10 for implementation in the Mediterranean. Additionally, ISOTECH developed a database of good practices containing example measures for eutrophication, contaminants and marine litter that are being successfully implemented in Europe, as a means of providing inspiration, guidance and advice to Mediterranean countries, and supporting the implementation of the identified measures at national and/or regional/transboundary level.
